Throughout the Book of Psalms, we find verses that inspire us, comfort us, and remind us of God’s everlasting love, his presence in our lives, and that every day is a gift from him.
This is the time of year when so many milestones are reached, and celebrated, as young people are confirmed, graduate, and take steps toward adulthood. For many of us, it’s hard to believe that those little grade-schoolers of what seems like a short time ago, are these tall, poised young adults with ambitious, grown-up sounding plans!
Our high school seniors are graduating, moving on to new phases in their lives, and it’s an exciting, just a little bit scary, time for them and their families. I appreciate hearing the term “commencement” used for these end-of-school events, as the word actually means to begin. This time isn’t really the end of learning, growing, and maturing, but another step along the way, hopefully to a lifetime of learning new things and growing as a person.
I’d like to send these two verses along with our young adults, to keep in their thoughts, because the times will come when they will need them. God is always with us, loving us, caring for us, and ready to listen to our fears and worries. God gives us every day of our lives, and rather than take them for granted, let us rejoice and be glad!
Your Friend in Christ,
Mary Rogers
